Society for NeuroscienceThe annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience begins today in Washington, D.C., and among researchers presenting their findings will be two of our current Scholars--Robert Gibboni ('05) of UA and Erik Stout ('08) of ASU.

Robert was quoted last week in a UA News article on undergraduate research:

Gibboni, like Mosher, has conducted research in the laboratory headed by Katalin Gothard, a UA assistant professor of neurology and physiology. His work involves studying brain function within the context of visual attention and social behavior.

“I was lucky enough to rather by chance end up in professor Katalin Gothard's lab. She is an amazing mentor as well as scientist. She taught me a lot about how to be a scientist, and even what being a scientist means: being patient, persistent, skeptical and somewhat irreverent,” Gibboni said.

Erik--who began an internship at Barrow Neurological Institute as a high-school sophomore--is the second author on two posters that are being presented at the conference. He says that means he'll be responsible for fielding questions for about two hours on each poster.
