Arizona State University has announced the creation of a new evening course on biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industries. The two-semester series will be offered at the ASU main campus by the W. P. Carey School of Business.

Each semester of the course will focus on different aspects of the biotech and pharmaceutical business world. The spring 2004 course will outline key industry issues, and will offer a survey of related business relationships, structures, and frameworks. In the second semester, its focus will shift to organizational management issues, business plan development, communications, and alternatives available to startup companies.

Two faculty members from separate areas of the Carey School will serve as instructors: Professor Bradford Kirkman-Liff of the School of Health Management and Policy, and William A. Verdini, associate dean of the Supply Chain Management Department. The course will also feature guest speakers from the industry.
