Deadline near for new Commerce technology grants

The Arizona Department of Commerce is providing grants of up to $5,000 each to help small businesses and entrepreneurs in the tech sector win larger federal grants.

The Governor's AZ Fast Grants will reimburse successful applicants for expenses associated with securing Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer funding for developing and commercializing technology in Arizona. Eligible expenses include training, mentoring and guidance, business advisory services, proposal assistance and technology transfer expertise.

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be focused on bioindustry, aerospace, information technology, electronics, environmental science or telecommunications. The deadline for receipt of applications is Tuesday, July 15, at 3 p.m.

The $200,000 program is funded by the Federal and State Technology Partnership Program of the U.S. Small Business Administration, and by matching funds from the ADOC Commerce and Economic Development Commission. No state general funds were used for these grants.
