Officials from Arizona State University and the Mexican university Tec de Monterrey have met to discuss potential interfaces between departments at the two universities. The meeting is an important step in solidifying their collaboration on technology, biotechnology, and distance learning, agreed upon in principle in November.
Representatives from Tec de Monterrey's programs in engineering, biotechnology, architecture, medicine, agriculture and food technology, and chemical science joined Tec president Alberto Bustani to meet with ASU delegates.
ASU was represented by President Michael Crow and the director of the university's Biodesign Institute, George Poste. Others joined from the university's programs in biotechnology, environmental studies, sciences, engineering, architecture, and construction programs.
According to the State Press, discussions focused on issues of infrastructure, and on the best ways to make connections between specific departments. President Crow plans to visit the Mexican university in February, the newspaper reported.
