Lutz wins coveted Marshall Scholarship
Brian Lutz, a '97 Flinn Scholar, was among the 40 winners of the Marshall Scholarship this year. The award provides two years of post-graduate study in the United Kingdom. Brian is the fourth Flinn Scholar to win the coveted award.
Brian Lutz, a '97 Flinn Scholar, is among the 40 winners of the Marshall Scholarship announced today by the British government. After finishing his master's degree in biology at Arizona State University, Lutz will use the award for two years of post-graduate studies at two prestigious London-based institutions.
Lutz becomes the fourth Flinn Scholar to win the award. Ian Larkin ('91), Michael Chu ('92), and John Malik ('92) were named Marshall Scholars in 1996.
The award adds to Lutz' string of successes at earning nationally competitive graduate scholarships. He also has won the Truman, Udall, and Goldwater scholarships, and also was named to the USA Today All-USA College Academic First Team.
Lutz will pursue a one-year MSc in Environmental Epidemiology & Policy at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine followed by a one-year MSc in Environment and Development at the London School of Economics.
